WastemanagementisacriticalissueforSIDSastheyoftenlackproperinfrastructureandresourcestomanagewasteeffectively.Poorwastemanagementpracticescanleadtoenvironmentaldegradation,healthhazards,andeconomiclosses.Theproposedstrategyaimstoaddresswastemanagementchallengesthroughthefollowingmeasures: -Developwastemanagementpoliciesandregulationsthatpromotereduce,reuse,andrecyclepracticesandestablishwastecollectionanddisposalsystemsthataresustainableandcost-effective. -Promotepublicparticipationandcooperationthrougheducationprograms,communityengagement,andpartnershipwithlocalbusinessesandNGOs. -Investinwaste-to-energytechnologies,suchasanaerobicdigestion,gasification,andpyrolysis,thatcanconvertwasteintoenergyandreducewastevolumeandenvironmentalimpact. -Developmonitoringandevaluationsystemstoassesstheeffectivenessandefficiencyofwastemanagementservicesandidentifyareasforimprovement.EnhancingTourismSustainability:
