Types of Unicast Routing

This information is then used to calculate the shortest path to the destination. Path Vector Protocol (PVP)
The Path Vector Protocol, also known as the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), is mainly used in large-scale networks such as the Internet. PVP is based on a system of autonomous systems (AS) that each maintain their own routing table. Each AS exchanges information about the best path to a specific destination, and the routing table on each router is updated accordingly. PVP is the most complex and sophisticated form of unicast routing, but it is also the most scalable and robust.
